One down.......many, many, many, more to go!

It was ONE YEAR ago today that we moved to Huntsville!! Strange how things like this can feel.....in some sense I can't believe it's already been a year, like when I look around and see boxes still packed up or closets still not organized, and yet so much has happened that I could almost believe we've been here 5years already! When we recently celebrated Andrew's birthday, I had to shake myself into believing it was really only the first birthday he's had here, didn't seem possible.

Lots has gone on around here, both at home and the office. We've made many changes, with even more still in the works. My first priority was to get the boys' rooms transformed and make them special spaces just for them. Andrew's room is painted Toronto Maple Leafs blue and white, which also inspired the design, similar to the team jerseys.

I officially finished Ian's room only
today! He has never had a room that was designed just for him, and so it feels really good to finally have this done. It turned out great! Ian can't believe he has a 'road' in his room and the "Cars" characters

driving along it was the cherry on top!

We promised ourselves that if this was the house we picked, we would definitely have to redo the kitchen. This has been a challenging project. So far, we've taken down two walls, which has completely opened up the entire space. We also had a row of cabinets taken down above the counter top that sits right in the middle of the room. All of that made enough of a change for now, that we've decided to get a feel for this new space before going ahead with any further plans. There so much to choose from for cabinets, countertops, flooring, island design, and on and on and on..... Not to mention the cost of it all! Looks like somebody better get cracking on drillin' and fillin' a bunch of teeth!

<--These use to divide the kitchen and the family room

The cabinets were moved to the opposite wall and we have an island (for now) in the middle of the space.

When you first entered the house, this was the view....a big curved wall, blocking the view of the rest of the house.
That was torn down to a half wall, so now you walk into a big open space.

We are loving life here in Huntsville! The boys are involved in all kinds of things; soccer, swim club, lacrosse, hockey, and even bagpipe lessons!
Drew's practice is thriving and getting closer and closer to the dream he envisions. And when I'm not working in the office (who ever woulda thunk it!) I keep busy volunteering at school, making new friends in our 'hood, and keepin' this unit running like a well oiled machine.

There are most definitely 4 seasons here and we were just happy to survive our first winter.......

I can't believe that it's ONLY been a year that you've been there!! Great post for the history books...it'll be cool to see how the house changes over the years.
